SAY TRELL | NEW ORLEANS DJ & COMMUNITY BUILDER

In this exclusive catch-up, we sit down with Say Trell — a New Orleans-based DJ, curator, and connector who’s been busy supporting fellow artists, studying crowd energy, and preparing to bring back two of his signature parties: Trell’s Clubhouse and LMPYO

NOLA EDM: It’s been a minute — what have you been up to lately?
Say Trell: Lately, I’ve been attempting to support other artists and art styles while studying new ways to energize a crowd. Of course, it’s not easy to support everyone, but I’m doing my best to get around.

NOLA EDM: How was your Halloween weekend?
Say Trell: Friday I DJed at Emporium with some peers, and it was an absolute blast. I was even able to support some friends in the area.

NOLA EDM:You’ve been active in the New Orleans scene for a while now — what’s inspiring you creatively right now?
Say Trell: The art of building and keeping a crowd. Just studying and learning.

NOLA EDM: Any upcoming shows, releases, or collaborations we should keep on our radar?
Say Trell: Soon, me and another cool DJ will be putting on an event in a space that people don’t really show up to as much.

NOLA EDM:Which local artists or DJs are on your radar right now?
Say Trell: Legatron Prime, FTK, MikeyOffline, Geno, KvngFred, DJ DIV, ChiNola, and DJ Shanli. There are plenty more I can name, but I’d never stop there.

NOLA EDM: Favorite place to play or hang out in New Orleans right now?
Say Trell: The Domino, Poor Boys, and No Dice. I’m looking for other spaces where people are interested in listening to music that’s not typical to club-scene genres or styles.

NOLA EDM: Looking ahead — what’s next for you this winter?
Say Trell: I’m hoping to bring back The Juke 504 and LMPYO, while also fixing up my pages to look a little more professional.
