⚜️Blending Latin rhythm, New Orleans soul, and high-energy genre shifts, Maximo brings an electric, feel-good intensity built for dance floors that move until sunrise. ⚜️
In this NOLA EDM exclusive, we catch up with Maximo (@maximomixes) ahead of his set for VEGGI at The Rabbit Hole — a late-night party stacked with Sunnie, Baird b2b TøNE, and wall-to-wall high-BPM energy. Known for mixing South Florida Latin influences with New Orleans groove, Maximo steps into this show ready to ignite the room right after the headliner and guide the crowd into the after-hours with momentum, soul, and unexpected genre switches.
NOLA EDM: For those meeting you for the first time — who is Maximo?
Maximo: A huge part of my style comes from being heavily influenced by South Florida’s Latin culture and shaped by the spirit of New Orleans. That mix of latin rhythm, soul, funky grooves shows up everytime I play. When I’m behind the decks I want people to feel lifted, loose, and connected to the music.
NOLA EDM: This lineup is stacked — VEGGI, Sunnie, and you, and a b2b squad all in one night.
What kind of energy are you aiming to bring to The Rabbit Hole on December 5?
Maximo: For this event, since I’m going on right after the headliner, I’m kicking things off with high energy and high BPM to get the crowd moving immediately. Once everyone’s dancing, I’ll take them on a journey—sliding into some Disco grooves, then shifting into Garage, and even sneaking in a little Baile Funk. I love blending genres and keeping people on their toes, so the set will stay dynamic, unexpected, and full of momentum.
NOLA EDM: VEGGI has a reputation for high-emotion, high-energy sets.
How does his style influence how you’re preparing your own set for the night?
Maximo: I think our music taste and selection are very compatible. I am all for high energy tracks. I plan to start my set after his with a high BPM and go from there.
NOLA EDM: The Rabbit Hole has become a home base for a lot of emerging New Orleans DJs.
What does playing this venue mean to you, and how does the space shape the vibe of your sets?
Maximo: its easy to call Rabbit Hole a second home for me when it come to performing in this city. Some of my best sets have happened there. The void sound system they have is incredible and the staff is always friendly and supportive. I am truly grateful for the entire Rabbit Hole team and everything they have done for me.
NOLA EDM: Fans love your genre-blending style.
For this show, should people expect something heavier, groovier, more melodic — or are you keeping it unpredictable?
Maximo: The energy will be electric, feel-good, and full of momentum. Something that keeps people dancing, smiling, and never knowing what’s coming next.
NOLA EDM: This is a late-night party (“we close when the sun hates us”).
As a DJ, how do you shape the arc of your set for a crowd that wants to go deep into after-hours?
Maximo: I’ve got to keep the energy high and the crowd dancing and grooving until they lose all sense of time. I want people to get completely lost in the music and the rhythms—so caught up in the moment that nothing else exists but the groove.
NOLA EDM: What are you personally most excited for about this night?
Maximo: I’m excited to see everything come together and to watch and hear all the artists do their thing. I’m truly there to have a great time, and I know we’re all going to curate an incredible vibe on Friday—one that won’t stop until the sun is shining through the windows.
