“Music is my longest commitment next to breathing.” -Fùnké
Born from the watery crossroads of the Wolf River and the Mighty Mississippi, Memphis native and New Orleans based, Fùnké approaches music with a fluidity that’s just as moving as the river she grew up upon.
Having lived most of her life in various cities along the Mississippi River, her sound is a gulf to all those experiences. Her talents have graced events like Atlanta Weekender, Excursions, Gimme A Reason, The Carry Nation, Edison House Music Festival, Essence Festival, Soul n Conga, FunkboxNYC and others. Fùnké is on a crusade to bring back the dance in dance culture. Fùnké can be heard on the renowned Gilles Peterson’s WorldwideFM and well as internet favorite, Lot Radio.
With over 20 years in her craft, Fùnké sees herself as an egg (baby) in this musical journey. Fùnké’s talents have landed her opportunities alongside, Mark Farina, Moonshine, Ctlzra, Moodymann, Osunlade, Coflo, The Carry Nation, Eric Cloutier, DJ Minx, Kai Alcé, Rich Medina, Spinderella, Rahaan, King Britt, Jihad Muhammad, Tyree Cooper, DJ Mars, Tony Touch, Ezel, Seun Kuti + Egypt 80, Bill Summers and countless others.
“Dance is a form of prayer; a means of release. It has always been our vehicle for spiritual transformation.”-Fùnké
