Kitty Pool: CATWALK Brings Fashion, DJs, and Poolside Energy to The Maidstone
Kitty Pool: CATWALK is bringing together two parts of New Orleans nightlife that often exist side by side without fully sharing the same space. Presented by M3OWM1X (@m3owm1xofficial) and Sparkle Puss (@sparkle.puss), the September 5 event turns The Maidstone into an afternoon built around electronic music, fashion, performance, and the local creatives behind each of them.
For M3OWM1X, that crossover is personal. Her approach to both music and Sparkle Puss is rooted in collaboration, self-expression, and creating environments where people can tap into a louder, more confident version of themselves. The idea for CATWALK also traces back to a 2023 pool party at the same location, where participating in a fashion show gave her an early opportunity to establish herself as a designer.
We caught up with M3OWM1X to talk about Kitty Pool: CATWALK, the upcoming poolside fashion and music experience bringing DJs, designers, performers, and local creatives together at The Maidstone.
NOLA EDM: For people discovering M3OWM1X through NOLA EDM, how would you describe yourself as an artist, and as a fashion/event curator?
Tell us about your background, how this project evolved, and where your sound lives within heavier bass music.
M3OWM1X: M3OWM1X as an artist is the experience of walking in the girls bathroom in the club. You’re feeling sexy, you’re getting gassed up, everyone’s still dancing to the beats pounding against the walls, you’re sharing lipgloss and instagrams, might even have one girl in the corner crying over her ex and everyone’s coming together to plot his murder. It’s all about discovering your inner diva and sharing that energy with those around you.
Same goes with my clothing brand, Sparkle Puss. Once I found my own point of view of how I think my fashion speaks for myself, the most important thing for me was to collab with other artists and learn new ideas and skills from each other. There are so many amazing resources and inspiration in New Orleans that the rest of the country doesn’t have. We’re wild and unapologetic and overflowing with creativity, with a certain dirty, swampy grime that just doesn’t exist anywhere else.
NOLA EDM: Kitty Pool brings together a pool party, electronic music, and a full fashion show instead of treating those scenes as separate experiences. What inspired you to combine nightlife and fashion this way?
M3OWM1X: It came from an opportunity that I was a part of with the Dohm Collective in 2023 where they threw a pool party show at the same venue but it was formally called “The Drifter”. They had two days of lineups of local DJ’s and headliners and they reached out to me about doing a fashion show with other local designers during the event. It was right when I was just getting my name out and it was the perfect way to prove myself as a serious clothing designer. It was literally a perfect dream day, I sold every piece my models wore, including the romper I was wearing myself.
NOLA EDM: The DJ lineup spans Legatron Prime, Tristan Dufrene, Avea De Lune, Holly Jean, Sunnie, Foxx Karma, and Paw.Pad Live. What were you looking for when curating the soundtrack for CATWALK, and how do you want the energy to evolve throughout the afternoon?
M3OWM1X: Everyone on the lineup has a personal connection to me, whether through longtime friendship or newer relationships. Foxx Karma opens the day after impressing me with their ability to move between dubstep and high-energy house, while Sunnie brings the contagious dance floor energy I’ve watched develop since our early open-deck days together. Avea De Lune, formerly Semaj, is an OG in the dubstep community and one of the artists who first inspired me to DJ, while Tristan Dufrene is a longtime force in New Orleans underground culture whose versatility I’ve admired for years. Holly Jean will soundtrack the fashion show with a mix that felt like the perfect fit for the runway while I focus on coordinating everything behind the scenes, and afterward, longtime friend Legatron Prime takes over to bring the energy back to the dance floor. The lineup is ultimately built around artists I genuinely admire, people who have influenced my own journey, and relationships that reflect the community behind Kitty Pool.
NOLA EDM: Paw.Pad brings M3OWM1X and D.PAD together for a live set. What makes this project different from your individual DJ sets, and what can people expect from it poolside
M3OWM1X: To close out the night, me and d.pad are joining forces to bring you the first ever special edition Paw.Pad Live set. We will be blending our signature selections with our original music, with d.pad on live guitar improvisations. We’ve been working very hard on it, practicing every chance we get to bring you the perfect sunset end of the evening poolside vibes.
NOLA EDM: Sparkle Puss is curating a runway featuring local creatives, with NOL EDM also represented on the CATWALK. How important is it for this event to give local designers, models, photographers, performers, and other creatives space alongside the DJs?
M3OWM1X: Once again, it’s all about using your resources. I was given so many resources from friends and people around me to help me get started, it’s only right to try to give back in any way I can. I’m trying to build the community around me that I want to be a part of. I’ve heard too many people complain for so long about how they hate the scene, how clicky it is, and how the dancefloor has turned into an Instagram DJ worship service. And to me it’s way more than that, so I’m just trying to involve as many creatives as I can so you can feel surrounded by that energy and see that magic hasn’t gone away.
NOLA EDM: Kitty Pool lands during Southern Decadence and Labor Day weekend, when New Orleans is already overflowing with parties. What do you think CATWALK adds to the weekend that people may not find at a traditional club night or pool party?
M3OWM1X: Kitty Pool is the day party pregame for everyone who wants to experience New Orleans culture and celebrate the women who create it. After the pool party is over, there are so many great events around town for everyone looking to keep the party going all night long!
I’m just trying to throw an event that I personally would look at and go, Holy S-, this looks like the most awesome pool party I’ve ever seen. There’s something there for everyone, the fashionistas, the trinket collectors, the gogo dancer admirers, the day drinkers, the dancefloor marathon dancers, people with SOLID music taste, and even people who just love a cat theme!
NOLA EDM: When people leave The Maidstone at the end of the night, what do you hope they remember about Kitty Pool: CATWALK, and is there anything you want the New Orleans EDM community to know before September 5?
M3OWM1X: I want everyone to feel like they get to escape into another fun-filled reality. One where they got to be the sexiest version of themselves and feel fulfilled by supporting all of the artists running the show.I hope everyone who comes out leaves wanting to see more community-focused events. Putting all this together has been a labor of love.I have a really strong point of view that I want to prove and I know it will all be worth it in the end. But for now, I’m very grateful to have this opportunity to put on this super crazy awesome lit movie of a party that you do not want to miss out on. <3
