Late Checkout Brings Pure Intentions House Energy to Tragos Amargos This July

Late Checkout is back on July 11, and this time Pure Intentions and Moments are taking over Tragos Amargos, a new speakeasy in the CBD that already carries a strong identity of its own. Hidden in plain sight at 930 Poydras Street, the space gives this edition of the party a different kind of atmosphere from the start, leaning into mystery, design, and the feeling that something special is unfolding behind the door.

We caught up with RTS of Pure Intentions (@pure_intentions___)  ahead of Late Checkout at Tragos Amargos as the crew brings its house-driven energy into a smaller, more intimate room built around connection, discovery, and a night that feels hidden in plain sight.

NOLA EDM: Late Checkout is back, this time at Tragos Amargos. What made this the right space for the next edition of the party?

RTS: Tragos Amargos is this new beautiful speakeasy in the middle of downtown, hidden in plain sight. It’s beautifully designed and uniqueness fits right into the heart of what Late Checkout/Moments is about.

NOLA EDM: With only 130 tickets available including VIP, this one feels especially intimate. What does that smaller-capacity energy allow you to do differently compared to a bigger room?

RTS: The speakeasy setting creates a sense of mystery and exclusivity, but once you’re inside, it’s all about connection, the Dj’s and the music. House music has always been about bringing people together, so we’re creating an atmosphere where everyone feels welcome, because the venue is so small everyone in that room will be connected at all times. No one will miss a thing.

NOLA EDM: The lineup brings together RTS, Shlomo Yitshak, Cole Haydel x Siisko, and Xsomnia. What made this mix of DJs the right fit for Late Checkout at Tragos Amargos?

RTS: I think in such an intimate setting it’s very important to curate the lineup carefully. Each and every DJ on this lineup has a unique style and tells a story through their DJ’ing very differently. Styles in my opinion are very important when DJ’ing. Some have a style built for small rooms, some for big stages, some for any atmosphere but when DJ’ing in such a small space where you are the center stage it’s important to be adaptable. The DJ’s will be performing inside the bar alongside the bartenders. It’s a very unique situation. We’re excited to hear everyone’s sets.

NOLA EDM: Tragos Amargos already has a distinct identity as a speakeasy in the CBD. How does a space like that shape the flow of the night and the way you think about house music in that room?

RTS:  That’s very true Tragos Amargos already has a character of its own, and that’s exactly what drew us to it. We believe our two styles and identities will compliment each other. You don’t have to force an atmosphere there—it already feels like you’ve stepped into a hidden world. It’s already a speakeasy and well defined restaurant/ bar but now it becomes a hidden music venue for one night.

NOLA EDM: Pure Intentions has been building a recognizable lane through stylish, intentional parties that still feel welcoming and dance-driven. What do you think makes a Pure Intentions night stand out once people experience it in person?

RTS: A Pure Intentions night is dance-driven in the truest sense. We want to tell a story, and we want the crowd to feel like they’re a part of that story. Engagement is very important when performing. We want everyone to feel something. When that connection happens, the room takes on a life of its own. We love to rage, to dance, to create moments throughout the night. It’s never just another dance party. We aim to create an atmosphere where one can go experience life through dance music. You may meet your next business partner or your wife/husband or new best friend or even see an old friend. It’s all because of house music. We love hearing who walked away with new friends, rekindled an old friendship or started a new one. We want them already asking when the next one is. That’s the feeling we’re always chasing, and I think that’s what makes Pure Intentions different.

NOLA EDM: Anything you want the New Orleans dance community to know before Late Checkout takes over Tragos Amargos on July 11?

RTS: Come ready to dance, come ready to party. New Orleans has always had a deep appreciation for music and culture, and it’s exciting to contribute to that tradition through house music, a genre in New Orleans that is very present but historically overshadowed by other forms of music but we’re here and here for good. We thank the dance community for its support and love. See you on July 11th.
